Während die Nationalphilologien des 19. Jahrhunderts am Aufbau des Mythos Klassik arbeiteten, stand im 20. Jahrhunderts dessen Dekonstruktion im Vordergrund. Roland Barthes etwa hob die Schattenseiten der Tragödie Racines hervor (Roland Barthes, L’homme racinien, 1963); Theodor W. Adorno stellte die Brüchigkeit des Goetheschen Klassizismus heraus (Theodor W. Adorno, Zum Klassizismus von Goethes Iphigenie, 1967). Diese literaturwissenschaftliche Dialektik soll zum Ausgangspunkt einer vergleichenden Lektüre von Dramen der französischen und deutschen Klassik genommen werden: Inwiefern hat das Dunkle, das Unheimliche und das Gespenstische teil am klassischen Drama?
Lektüregrundlage sind ausgewählte Dramen Racines und Goethes sowie Sekundärtexte (Barthes, Adorno).
Kenntnisse des Französischen sind von Vorteil, aber nicht notwendig.

Die Studienleistung setzt sich aus einem Blogeintrag im Online-Diskussionsforum (ca. 500 Wörter) und 2 Kommentaren zusammen. Der Eintrag ist in Bezug auf einen Text bis zur jeweiligen Seminarsitzung zu verfertigen. Die Prüfungsleistung besteht aus einer Hausarbeit von ca. 12 Seiten. Das Seminar kann wahlweise mit einem Lektüreschwerpunkt absolviert werden.
