270983 Clinical psychology and interventions for adults with disabilities (BS) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

Worldwide over 600 Mio. people are considered to have a disability, which indicates that 25% of the population is either directly or indirectly affected by disability. The specific life circumstances, stigma and barriers associated with disabilities impact the mental health of people with disabilities and their caregivers. In this seminar, we will focus on the co-morbidity or dual diagnosis of primariy disabilities (intellectual, motor or sensory disabilities) and mental health disorders. We will consider the validity of mental health assessments for these patient groups and how researchers and therapists may need to make adjustments to the therapeutic assessment and intervention procedures to account for particular disabilities.
