Streuobstwiesen sind auf Grund ihrer Bedeutung für zahlreiche Tier- und Pflanzenarten wichtige Biotope im regionalen Naturschutz. Zugleich sind sie ein typisches Beispiel dafür, wie historische Nutzungsformen den Artenreichtum einer Landschaft begünstigen.
In der Veranstaltung wird zunächst eine Einführung in die Ökologie von Streuobstwiesen gegeben. Im Anschluss werden die theoretischen Grundlagen des Obstbaumschnitts vorgestellt, und schließlich die praktische Naturschutzarbeit an einer Streuobstwiese durchgefürt.
Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam mit der Biologischen Station Paderborn-Senne durchgeführt.
