Cuba. Kaum eine Insel ist im europäischen Blick, in globalen Vorstellungen und medialen Repräsentationen so sehr von Nostalgie-Projektionen und Stereotypen der Karibik geprägt. Dabei war und ist diese Insel im karibischen Archipel sowohl dank ihrer kulturellen Kreativität, Vielfalt und Widersprüche, als auch ihrer geokulturellen wie geopolitischen Verflechtungen eine genauere Betrachtung wert. Gemeinsam werden wir von der Unabhängigkeit bis zu unserer Gegenwart literarische, ästhetische und theoretische Ansätze kubanischer Autor_innen in ihren stets nationalen, karibischen und globalen Zusammenhängen betrachten und nachvollziehen, wie sehr Kuba in transnationalen und –kulturellen Austauschprozessen und den konstanten Veränderung mehr als einen festen Ort benennt. Neben literarischen Texten diverser Genres, werden wir Positionen der Anthropologie, Ethnographie und filmischer Repräsentationen erarbeiten und diskutieren.
Texte und Materialien werden im Lernraum sowohl in spanischer Sprache als auch deutscher, teils englischer Übersetzung bereitgestellt und dienen zur Vorbereitung und als Grundlage der jeweiligen Sitzungen. Ein Seminarplan wird zu Beginn des Semesters vorgestellt.
