300121 Migration im Kontext von Klimawandel - Fakten und Mythen (S) (SoSe 2018)

In dem Seminar beschäftigen wir uns mit dem komplexen Zusammenhang zwischen Klimawandel und Migration und seiner oftmals simplistischen Darstellung in öffentlichen Diskursen. Wir arbeiten zunächst heraus, welche oftmals widersprüchlichen theoretischen Überlegungen es zu diesem Themenkomplex gibt. Danach betrachten wir an Hand von Fallbeispielen in Lateinamerika, Asien und Afrika die Auswirkungen verschiedener Folgen des Klimawandels (z.B. Dürren, Fluten, Stürme) auf die Lebensumstände der davon betroffenen Menschen. Hierbei hinterfragen wir kritisch, welche Rolle Migration als Reaktion auf die veränderten Lebensumstände spielt. Im dritten und letzten thematischen Teil des Seminars diskutieren wir die Relevanz des Themas für verschiedene nationale und internationale politische Akteure.

Studierende sollten idealerweise über erste Vorkenntnisse zu den Themenbereichen Migration und/oder Klimawandel verfügen. Vorausgesetzt wird die Bereitschaft zur vorbereitenden Lektüre der angegebenen Texte und der aktiven Teilnahme an den Veranstaltungen.
