Das Sozio-Ökonomische Panel (SOEP) ist eine seit 1984 laufende jährliche
Wiederholungsbefragung in Deutschland, mit den Themenschwerpunkten
Haushaltszusammensetzung, Bildung, Erwerbs- und Familienbiographie,
Einkommensverläufe, Migration, Gesundheit und Lebenszufriedenheit,
Persönlichkeit und Kompetenzen. In der universitären und
außeruniversitären empirischen Sozialforschung ist das SOEP eine der
wichtigsten Datenquellen zur Abbildung sozialer Dynamiken und
Ungleichheitsstrukturen. Das Seminar führt grundlegend in die Arbeit mit
dem SOEP ein. Auf Grundlage individueller Beispielfragestellungen sollen
Studierende unter Anleitung das Management der Daten und die Aufbereitung
analysefähiger Datensätze einüben. Im zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung
werden schließlich angemessene Methoden zur (längsschnittlichen)
Modellierung der Daten vorgeführt und eingeübt. Das Seminar setzt eine
regelmäßige Teilnahme sowie die Bereitschaft zur eigenständigen
Auseinandersetzung mit dem Datensatz zwischen den Lehrveranstaltungen
voraus. Studienleistungen können im Rahmen eines erweiterten Assignements,
Prüfungsleistungen im Rahmen einer mündlichen Prüfung erworben werden.
