230488 Verflucht oder erwählt? Der 'Gregorius'-Stoff bei Hartmann von Aue und Thomas Mann (S) (SoSe 2018)

Sex and Crime kennzeichnen den Lebensweg des Sünderheiligen Gregorius, der gegen Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts von Hartmann von Aue im "Gregorius" aufgeschrieben und 1955 von Thomas Mann in "Der Erwählte" neu erzählt wird.

Beide Werke verhandeln im Abstand von rund 750 Jahren die Geschichte des ‚guten Sünders‘ der trotz schwerer Verfehlungen durch göttliche Gnade zum ‚Erwählten‘ wird. Im Seminar werden die Texte gelesen und analysiert – Ziel ist es, die diachronen Strukturen zwischen dem mittelalterlichen und dem modernen Werk aufzuzeigen und die erzählerischen Mittel zu vergleichen, die genutzt werden, um aus einer Heiligenlegende einen Roman zu gestalten.
