230368 Procesos transculturales en Mexico: Desde La Malinche hasta Frida Kahlo (S) (SoSe 2018)

Desde los primeros contactos coloniales, los procesos transculturales marcan la búsqueda de la identidad nacional de los países latinoamericanos. En México, esta búsqueda se basa en la imagen del mestizo, idea que en 1925 José Vasconcelos recoge bajo el término "raza cósmica". Son varias las figuras femeninas que jugaron un papel importante en el desarrollo de esta identidad colectiva que trataremos en clase: La Malinche, que en el siglo XVI fue intérprete del conquistador español Hernán Cortés, al que dio un hijo, y que es considerada la madre del primer mestizo. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, una monja mexicana del siglo XVII que escribió sonetos que tratan de forma crítica los estereotipos de género establecidos por los poetas españoles en los Siglos de Oro. Y, finalmente, Frida Kahlo, cuyas pinturas reconsideran estas figuraciones transculturales vistas desde la perspectiva del siglo XX.
