The focus of this class lies on the phonetics and phonology of US-American English as well as lexical and syntactic differences. Not only will we look at the phonotactics of GenAm but also at regional differences and changes, such as Southern American English, the Northern Cities Shift, the English spoken in Philadelphia and New York.
