The seminar deals with the practice of discourse analysis based on texts about touching in curative and pedagogical contexts. Particularly in the sociological tradition of knowledge, discourse analysis is often referred to as archaeology, which uncovers the formation of knowledge and power. The central intention of this seminar is to explore this analogy of discourse-analytical work as text-archaeological practice: How can central concepts be understood and applied? The topic of touch offers an interesting and hitherto poorly explored field in which pedagogical, scientific and esoteric discourses overlap and thus generate knowledge about how subjects can be created, healed or destroyed by touch. This sheds light on structures in which discourses, experiences, power and knowledge become entangled - and we will try to uncover these entanglements in a first archaeological test excavation!

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
