Religion ist immer schon an bestimmte Orte gebunden. Ein zentraler Ort der christlichen Religion ist der Kirchraum: Raum für Erfahrungen mit christlicher Identität, auch für wenig(er) kirchlich gebundene Menschen.
Kirchenpädagogik versucht, über Kirchengebäude didaktisch angemessene Zugänge zur christlichen Religion zu gestalten: Indem sie die Atmosphäre, Symbolik, Architektur und Geschichte vermittelt. Und indem sie Kirchen durch Spielen, Fragen, Tasten, Riechen, Horchen, Stillwerden, Fühlen, Sehen und Verstehen erlebbar macht.
Das Seminar will in Theorie und Praxis der Kirchenpädagogik einführen. Kirche und Schule werden dabei als Lernorte gleichermaßen berücksichtigt.
