Fragen von Entwicklungspolitik und Lebensbedingungen in Ländern der sogenannten "Dritten Welt" gehören inzwischen zum etablierten Inhalt von Geographieunterricht und Sachunterricht. Zu Beginn der Veranstaltung soll geklärt werden, welches oberste Ziel von Unterricht zu diesem Thema sein sollten. In diesem Zusammenhang soll die fachdidaktische Literatur seit der Curriculumrevision der 70er Jahre analysiert werden. Danach soll fachdidaktisches Material (Unterrichtsentwürfe und konkrete Lehrmittel) zu zentralen Aspekten des Themas analysiert werden, wobei handlungsorientierte Ansätze eine gewisse Priorität erfahren werden. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte werden dabei sein: Ethnozentrismus, Grüne Revolution und Kapitalisierung der Landwirtschaft, Urbanisierungsprozesse, Desertikikation und Raubbau am tropischen Regenwald.
