Seit geraumer Zeit diskutiert die Geschichtswissenschaft wie sich Selbstverhältnisse in der Moderne gewandelt haben. Dabei ist unter anderem in den Fokus gerückt, wie Gesellschaft und Staat versucht haben Subjektivierungsprozesse zu steuern und warum bestimmte Persönlichkeitsmodelle zu gesellschaftlichen Leitbildern gemacht wurden. Dafür greift die Geschichtswissenschaft verstärkt Subjekttheorien aus Kulturwissenschaft und Philosophie auf (z. B. von Foucault, Butler und Reckwitz). Diese Theorien ebenso wie ausgewählte Anwendungsbeispiele sollen im Mittelpunkt des Seminars stehen. So wollen wir nachvollziehen, in welchem Verhältnis Kultur- und Gesellschaftstheorien sowie Fragestellungen der Geschichtswissenschaft stehen.
