Anhand exemplarischer Positionen der religionspädagogischen Diskussion im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert führt die Vorlesung in das Gebiet der Religionspädagogik ein. Dies soll unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Antworten auf die Frage, was jeweils mit "Religion" gemeint ist, die in der religionsdidaktischen Konzeption "gelehrt" werden soll. In Auseinandersetzung mit zentralen Beiträgen zur religionspädagogischen Diskussion kann und soll sich der eigene Ansatz bilden und bewähren: Wer Religionsunterricht erteilt, sollte dazu in der Lage sein, sich selber und anderen Rechenschaft darüber zu geben, welcher Begriff von Religion und welche religionsdidaktische Konzeption der Praxis zugrunde gelegt wird und werden soll.
