Die verschiedenen Forschungsprogramme und Ansätze der phänomenologischen Soziologie stellen eine bedeutende Theorietradition in der Soziologie dar. Das Seminar setzt sich das Ziel, die wichtigen theoretischen Prämissen und Konzepte vorzustellen und zu diskutieren sowie exemplarische Forschungstechniken und empirische Fallstudien kennen zu lernen. Das Seminar ist als ein Lektüreseminar geplant. Es wird von den Teilnehmern erwartet, dass sie in jeder Sitzung in der Lage sind, bestimmte Texte oder Textpassagen in ihren Grundgehalten zu präsentieren und zu kommentieren. Es ist also unumgänglich, sich jeweils intensiv auf die Seminarsitzungen vorzubereiten.
