Bei dieser Übung handelt es sich um einen "klassischen" Lektürekurs. Ziel ist es, Sie in die kontinuierliche Lektüre lateinischer Autoren einzuführen. Gegenstand sind folgende drei Reden Ciceros, außerdem folgende zwei Bücher aus De finibus:
- In Verrem 2,4
- In Catilinam
- Pro Caelio
- De finibus I
- De finibus III
Sinnvoll ist es, sich diese Reden in einer zweisprachigen Ausgabe zuzulegen (z.B. Reclam, Artemis/Winkler).

Diese Übung wendet sich an Studierende des ersten Studienjahres und zielt darauf, die Übersetzungskompetenz der TeilnehmerInnen im Bereich lateinischer Prosatexte zu stärken.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
Die kontinuierliche Teilnahme sowie eine regelmäßige Vor- und Nachbereitung der Veranstaltung werden erwartet.
Die Übung wird mit einer Klausur (lat.-dt. Übersetzung) abgeschlossen. Der Text der Abschlussklausur entstammt einer oben aufgeführten fünf Bücher Ciceros (s.u.)
In der Klausur wird die Kenntnis aller im „Vischer“ mit einem Dreieck gekennzeichneten Wörter vorausgesetzt.
