Es ist ein alter empirischer Befund, dass Bildung und Vorurteile zusammenhängen. Unter dem sog. Poor-White-Racism-Phäomen, zu dem viel Forschung vorliegt, versteht man den negativen Zusammenhang: Bildung korreliert negativ mit Vorurteilen. Allerdings ist der Befund nicht stabil. Es gibt einen gebildeten Antisemitismus, Fremdenfeindlichkeit in gut situierten und gebildeten Schichten etc. Wann schützt Bildung? Welche Bildung schützt? Wie schützt Bildung? Um die Fragen zu beantworten wid das Seminar erst das Konzept der Vorurteile diskutieren. Anschließend wird der Bildungseffekte genauer untersucht. Schließlich werden Bildungsprogramme gegen Vorurteile erkundet. Vorraussetzung für das Semianr sind regelmäßige Teilnahme, die Bereitschaft, einen aktiven Input zu geben, sowie die Motivation, auch empiriche Studien der internationalen Forschung zu lesen und dazustellen.
