Dieses Seminar beschäftigt sich mit der Geschichte des Kapitalismus in globaler Perspektive. Wann begann der Kapitalismus? Welche Faktoren begünstigten die Entstehung dieses sozio-ökonomischen Systems? Wo und wann entstand der Handelskapitalismus und was sind die Ursachen für den Übergang hin zum Industriekapitalismus? In dem Seminar werden Entwicklungen in verschiedenen Weltregionen, darunter China, Westasien und Europa thematisiert und miteinander verglichen. Warum sich der Industriekapitalismus zuerst in England durchsetzte ist ebenfalls Gegenstand des Seminars.
