300251 Methoden quantitativ: Intergenerationale Anaylsen mit dem SOEP (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Intergenerationale Mobilität ist ein zentrales Konzept der empirischer Ungleichheitsforschung sowie normativer Gerechtigkeitstheorien. In einem ersten Teil des Seminars werden zentrale theoretische Erklärungen, methodische Herangehensweisen sowie empirische Befunde der Mobilitätsforschung diskutiert. Ein Schwerpunkt wird auf der intergenerationalen Stabilität von Bildung, Beruf und Einkommensposition innerhalb von Familien liegen, das Seminar ist aber grundsätzlich offen für alternative Fragestellung wie der intergenerationalen Stabilität von Lebensstilen, Formen des Zusammenlebens, politischen Einstellungen, Gesundheit u.ä. Im zweiten Teil des Seminars sollen die TeilnehmerInnen eigene Analysen zur intergenerationalen Mobilität auf Basis des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP) durchführen. Dazu werden zum einen Kenntnisse des Umgangs komplexer längsschnittlicher Haushaltsdaten vermittelt und zum anderen in typische Designs und Verfahren zur Bestimmung intergenerationaler Stabilität (z.B. Geschwister-Fixed-Effects oder Mixed Modelle) eingeführt.
Das Sozio-oekonomische Panel (SOEP) ist weltweit eine der größten und mit über 30 Wellen am längsten laufenden Wiederholdungsbefragungen. Da alle Personen eines Haushalts an den jährlichen Interviews teilnehmen, ist das SOEP insbesondere für (längsschnittliche) Verknüpfungen von Personen geeignet (partnerschaftliche Analysen, Eltern/Kind-Analysen, Geschwisteranalysen u.ä.). Als Statistik-Software wird STATA verwendet. Es wird der Umgang mit STATA erläutert, grundsätzliche Kenntnisse einer statistischen Software (STATA, SPSS, R) sind erwünscht. Für den Fall dass diese Grundkenntnisse fehlen, können sie die angebotenen Stata-(Block-)Seminare zu Semesterbeginn besuchen oder Lehrbücher wie Kohler und Kreuter (2012) zum Selbststudium nutzen.
