Mit Hegemonie und Diskurs sind zwei Begriffe benannt, die in neueren kritischen sozialwissenschaftlichen Debatten eine sehr prominente Rolle spielen. Das als Lektürekurs angelegte Seminar dient der Auseinandersetzung mit der Theoriegeschichte und der Gegenwart dieser beiden Begriffe. Im Zentrum wird dabei vor allem die Auseinandersetzung mit den Überlegungen von Antonio Gramsci und deren Rolle in neueren Theorieansätzen wie demjenigen Ernesto Laclaus und Chantal Mouffes stehen. Zur Sprache sollen dabei auch konzeptionelle und methodische Fragen der Diskursanalyse kommen. Zudem sind auch Seitenblicke auf andere diskurstheoretische Ansätze (bspw. bei und im Anschluss an Foucault) zu werfen.
