Historismus, Zeitschichten, Zeitregime, Präsentismus, multiple times und temporalities, Chronotopos, Chronoferenzen, Anthropozän: All diese Begriffe stehen für unterschiedliche theoretische Herangehensweisen an Fragen von (historischer) Zeit und Zeitlichkeit, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten in der Geschichtstheorie stark in den Mittelpunkt gerückt sind. Trotz ihrer Unterschiede gehen all diese theoretischen Ansätze von einer ähnlichen Grundannahme aus: Zeitvorstellungen bedingen, wie wir den historischen Wandel erfahren und darüber nachdenken, wie wir Geschichte erkunden und darstellen. Der Historiker Reinhart Koselleck ging bereits 1972 in dieser Annahme so weit, dass er eine Theorie der geschichtlichen Zeiten für unverzichtbar hielt, wenn die Geschichte überhaupt den Status einer Wissenschaft beanspruchen wolle. Eine zentrale Fragestellung betrifft die Beziehung zwischen Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft, wie diese gedacht wird und inwiefern die abwesende Vergangenheit und die abwesende Zukunft Formen der Präsenz aufweisen können.
Im Seminar werden wir klassische und aktuelle Positionen zu diesem Fragenkomplex lesen und gemeinsam diskutieren.
Es sind keine Vorkenntnisse notwendig. Voraussetzung für eine erkenntnisgewinnende Teilnahme ist jedoch die Bereitschaft, sich auf theoretische Fragen und Texte einzulassen, die dann in den Seminarsitzungen ausführlich diskutiert werden.
