Das Seminar befasst sich mit der Entwicklung der medialen Inszenierung von Privatheit und Intimität in der Öffentlichkeit und der zunehmenden unterhaltungsorienterten Informationsvermittlung anhand von privatisierten, personifizierten und skandalisierten Darstellungen. Dies geschieht in Anlehnung an den (neuen) Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit. Betrachtet werden vor allem Inszenierungen innerhalb der sozialen Medien.
