COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to the mental health of refugees. It addresses the most common psychological consequences of the refugee experience. Topics include pre and post-migratory trauma, mental health problem, and psychosocial interventions for refugees and asylum seekers.
COURSE AIMS
• To review mental health problems among refugees.
• To have a basic understanding of assessing and managing mental health issues among adult and child refugee and their families.
• To identify ethical and clinically sound intervention practices for working with refugees.

EVALUATION:
Credit/No Credit will be awarded according to the following criteria:
• Class participation and assignments (50%): This course will be based on reading the materials assigned accordingly. Students are expected to read required materials prior to class and engage in informed participation.
• Individual presentations (50%): Each student will present a topic related to mental health and displacement in class as assigned. The presentation should be in PowerPoint format, and it can last between 90 + 120 minutes.
