Vorstellungen einer gerechten Ordnung ziehen sich ebenso durch die Geschichte des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts wie Ansätze, diese zu verwirklichen. Das Seminar will die Ausprägung und Wirkungskraft dieser weitreichenden Idee in unterschiedlichen kulturellen Deutungssystemen, ihre Verbindung mit politischen Systemen und Gruppierungen und ihre Relevanz in sozialen Bewegungen untersuchen. Zugleich sollen die Versuche, durch staatliche Gesetzgebung, alternative Bewegungen und in kommunikativen Strukturen Elemente einer gerechten Ordnung zu verwirklichen, einbezogen werden.
