Die Phonetik und Phonologie beschäftigt sich mit der Beschreibung und Modellierung lautsprachlicher Phänomene und ihrer linguistischen Funktion. Es wird eine theoretische Einführung in die zentralen Teilgebiete der Phonetik sowie einiger grundlegender phonologischer Beschreibungsformalismen und Theorien gegeben. Die theoretischen Ausführungen werden jeweils durch praktische Übungen ergänzt. Als Ergänzung zur Vorlesung wird ein Tutorium angeboten.
Der Kurs umfaßt folgende Inhalte:
- Akustische Phonetik
- Artikulatorische Phonetik
- Deskriptive Phonetik
- Perzeptive Phonetik
- Distinktive Merkmale
- Generative Phonologie (linear und "nichtlinear")
- Optimalitätstheorie

keine. Mindestens zeitgleicher Besuch des Grundkurses Linguistik ist wünschenswert.
