Verstehen ist eine zentrale Kategorie in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften. Sie durchquert unterschiedliche Ansätze und Disziplinen (Hermeneutik, Phänomenologie; Philosophie, Theologie, Geschichts- und Literaturwissenschaften, Soziologie, Ethnologie, Anthropologie, Rechtswissenschaft) und verbindet diese zugleich mit der alltäglichen Lebenswelt. Die Kategorie Verstehen eignet sich daher besonders gut, den Wandel geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlicher Theorien und Methoden in der Moderne zu untersuchen und deren Erkenntnisbedingungen zu reflektieren. Im Seminar lesen und diskutieren wir klassische Texte (Johann Gustav Droysen, Max Weber, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Paul Ricœur, Reinhart Koselleck) und Neuinterpretationen in Geschichtswissenschaft, Geschichtsvermittlung, politischer Philosophie und feministischer Theorie.
