Kaum ein Schlagwort ist in der internationalen Politik – etwa im Kontext des aktuellen Krieges auf europäischem Boden – so omnipräsent wie das der ‚Sicherheit‘. Allerdings ist dieses Schlagwort nicht nur allgegenwärtig, sondern vor allem auch überaus dehnbar. Während ‚klassische‘ (neo-)realistische Sicherheitsbegriffe das Streben nach Macht als objektive Prärequisite für ‚Sicherheit‘, nämlich das staatliche Überleben, definieren, fokussieren sich etwa konstruktivistische Ansätze auf die politische Legitimationswirkung von Sicherheitsartikulationen. Im Rahmen dieses BA-Blockseminars wollen wir gemeinsam verschiedene Sicherheitsbegriffe kennenlernen, ihre theoretischen wie empirischen Stärken und Schwächen diskutieren, sowie in ihrem Licht ausgewählte sicherheitspolitische Institutionen und aktuelle Problemfelder analysieren.
