Die Analyse der Rolle von Kontextfaktoren zur Erklärung von individuellem Verhalten, Einstellungen und Eigenschaften gewinnt in der sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschung zunehmend an Bedeutung. Räumliche Kontexte wie die Wohnumgebung, lokale Arbeitsmärkte, oder die am Wohnort verfügbare Infrastruktur (bspw. in Bezug auf die Gesundheit) haben sich als wichtige Faktoren für das Verständnis von systematischen (sozialen) Ungleichheiten erwiesen.
Das geplante Semianar fokussiert die praktische Durchführung von Regionalanalysen mit dem Sozio-oekonomischen Panel (SOEP), eine der größten Längsschnittbefragungen Deutschlands. SOEP-Daten sind geo-referenziert und erlauben daher die Verknüpfung mit Regionalindikatoren und anderen geo-referenzierten Datenquellen.
Im Laufe des Seminars führen die Studierenden eine eigene regionalisierte Analyse von SOEP-Daten zu einer selbst ausgewählten Fragestellung durch (R oder Stata). Inhalte des Seminars sind u.a.:
- Einführung in die (regionalisierten) SOEP-Daten
- Geospatial Data Sources und Regionalindikatoren
- Techniken der Verknüpfung von Datenquellen
- Techniken der Analyse von regionalisierten Survey-Daten
- Erstellung von (interaktiven) Karten
