Tod und Sterblichkeit stellten schon immer eine Herausforderung für das menschliche Nachdenken dar. Erstens gilt es, den seltsamen Kontrast zwischen belebter und unbelebter Natur zu verstehen: Was heißt es überhaupt zu leben? Wann ist ein Mensch tot? Zweitens drängt sich die Frage auf, wie man mit der eigenen Sterblichkeit umgehen sollte: Ist ein sterbliches Leben nicht sinnlos? Oder gerade deshalb sinnvoll? Sollen wir den Tod fürchten? Drittens schließlich kreisen viele der besonders kniffligen ethische Probleme um Sterben, Töten und Lebensretten: Krieg und Todesstrafe, Suizid und Abtreibung, Sterbehilfe und Triage. In dem Seminar besprechen wir exemplarisch einige dieser Themen anhand einschlägiger philosophischer Literatur.

Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 2 Leistungspunkten (Bachelor Einschreibung bis SoSe 11 und Master of Education) ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sowie das Erbringen des schriftlichen oder mündlichen Beitrags im Umfang von maximal 1200 Wörtern für das Modulportfolio, auf dem die unbenotete Moduleinzelleistung beruht. Die Anforderungen für den Modulportfolio-Beitrag werden zu Veranstaltungsbeginn bekannt gegeben.
Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 3 Leistungspunkten (Einschreibung ab WS 11/12) ist das Erbringen des schriftlichen oder mündlichen Beitrags im Umfang von maximal 1200 Wörtern bzw. 10-20 Minuten. Die genauen Anforderungen werden zu Veranstaltungsbeginn bekannt gegeben.
