This is an overview introductory seminar on the philosophy of social sciences. It covers a range of topics such as the relationship between social and natural sciences, the aims of social science, philosophical issues in social scientific methodology, the explanation versus understanding traditions in social scientific research, objectivity and value-freedom of social sciences, the possibility of empirical laws in the social sciences, the optimal level of explanation of social phenomena (i.e., methodological holism vs individualism debate), group agency and collective intentionality, and others.
Diese Veranstaltung kann als Handwerksseminar im Rahmen des Philosophischen Einstiegs gewählt werden.
Dieser Kurs wird zwar auf Englisch angeboten, Beiträge in deutscher Sprache sind aber ebenfalls möglich, da die Lehrperson Deutsch versteht.

Abschluss des ersten Studienjahres (beide Grundkurse, Philosophischer Einstieg und Philosophisches Schreiben), sofern Sie den Kurs nicht als Handwerksseminar besuchen.
