Der Kurs wird zunächst der Bedeutung nachgehen, die der Begriff der Selbstdarstellung im Werk Erving Goffmans und im Werk Niklas Luhmanns hat. Danach soll der Begriff genutzt werden, um Alltagssituationen mit Hinblick auf die Selbstdarstellung der Teilnehmer zu analysieren.
