Zum Aufschwung und Wandel der (extremen) Rechten tragen auch die Nutzung digitaler Medien
und die strategische Einbindung „alternativer“ Medien bei. Über social media (z.B. YouTube oder
Telegram-Kanäle) mobilisieren extrem rechte Akteur*innen und Gruppierungen für Proteste und
intervenieren in öffentliche Debatten. Zur Erschließung dessen gliedert sich das Seminar in drei
Schwerpunkte: Zunächst wollen wir die verschiedenen theoretischen Perspektiven und Begriffe zur
Problembeschreibung und -eingrenzung diskutieren (u.a. Rechtspopulismus,
Rechtsextremismus). Im zweiten Schritt wollen wir uns gemeinsam mit dem methodologischen
Framing-Ansatz aus der Protest- und Bewegungsforschung auseinandersetzen. Dieser bietet das
methodische Werkzeug, um im dritten Schritt die Deutungsangebote der extremen Rechten im
Kontext von Protesten und Online-Kommunikation zu erschließen. Dabei werden unterschiedliche
Medienformate und Protestformationen, etwa die Corona-Proteste, beleuchtet. Neben der
gemeinsamen Lektüre von relevanten Texten werden die Teilnehmer*innen hierfür empirische
Fallstudien erarbeiten, bei denen das zuvor erlangte Wissen zur Anwendung gebracht wird.
Ein überaus sensibler Umgang mit extrem rechten Texten, Positionen und Begriffen wird für das
Seminar vorausgesetzt – genauso wie die Bereitschaft zum Lesen englischer Texte.
