Although they seem neutral at first sight, generational inscriptions are separated due to gender. This course aims to uncover the gendered nature of the concept of generation. To achieve this, the course will first establish a framework for understanding the concept of generation from a sociological perspective and then explore the relationship between gender and generations. In doing so, a postcolonial critical approach will also be adopted, with part of the discussion delving into Middle Eastern societies and with a specific focus on Turkish society.
By the end of the course, the goal is for students to be able to conceptualize generation sociologically through a gender-critical and postcolonial perspective.
