Daten sind in unserer gegenwärtigen Welt immer mehr von Bedeutung. Gleichzeitig werden sie als gegeben und objektiv wahrgenommen, weil sie Entscheidungsprozesse auf verschiedenen Ebenen der Gesellschaft steuern. Als Historiker*innen sind wir aufgerufen, auch die Prozesse der Gegenwart kritisch in den Blick zu nehmen. Das will dieses Seminar tun, in dem der kritische Umgang mit Daten anhand der Erstellung von Data Stories eingeübt werden sollen.
Wir werden uns mit Methoden des Text Mining für historische Quellen beschäftigen und gemeinsam Data Stories entwickeln, die diese Daten mit Hilfe von Visualisierungen narrativieren.Die Veranstaltung wird zu Beginn und zum Ende des Semesters gemeinsam mit Studierenden und Lehrenden aus den Literatur- und Erziehungswissenschaften durchgeführt. Es werden gemeinsame Fragen entwickelt und am Ende eine Studierendenkonferenz durchgeführt.
Als Prüfungsleistung wird eine eigene Data Story verfasst, die dann nach Möglichkeit im Data Story Center der Universität veröffentlich wird.
