Im Mittelpunkt des Seminars steht sowohl das Verhältnis Israels und Judas zu deren Nachbarstaaten als auch die Sicht der Nachbarstaaten auf das Nord- und Südreich. Des Weiteren erfolgt eine Einführung in die geographische und topographische Region. Zur Erarbeitung dieses Kontextes werden alttestamentliche Texte und außerbiblische Quellen herangezogen.

Für den Erwerb einer aktiven Teilnahme soll ein Referat gehalten werden, dessen Gestaltung über eine reine Präsentation hinausgeht, sondern insbesondere die SeminarteilnehmerInnen aktiv mit einbezieht.
Eine benotete Einzelleistung kann in Form einer Hausarbeit, einer mündlichen Prüfung oder einer Klausur erbracht werden.
