220041 National Socialism and Gender (S) (WiSe 2012/2013)

Contents, comment

‘Race’ was a basic category that organised inclusion and exclusion during National Socialism. This seminar will discuss the category gender, also in relation to race as a category. On the basis of secondary literature and sources, we might discuss the following questions: Did gender in its symbolic dimensions play a role in the organisation or the representation of the people’s community? What possibilities of participation and what chances did it offer to men and women? Did gender as an element of identity also organise the participation in the war and in the successive radicalisation of the policies of destruction?
