Curriculum Vitae

Oliver Flügel-Martinsen is Professor of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the Faculty of Sociology, Bielefeld University. He studied political science, philosophy and sociology and holds MA degrees in political science (2001) and philosophy (2005), both at the Technical University of Darmstadt; PhD (2006) and Habilitation (2008) at Leibniz University Hannover. Positions as assistant professor, visiting scholar and substitute professor in Darmstadt (Technical University of Darmstadt), Hannover (Leibniz University Hannover), Paris (Panthéon Sorbonne) and Heidelberg (Heidelberg University of Education).

- Political Philosophy, Political Theory and History of Ideas
- Social Philosophy/Philosophy of the Social Sciences
- Theories of democracy (theories of radical democracy)
- German idealism (Kant and Hegel) and 19th century philosophy (Marx and Nietzsche)
- French philosophy of the 20th century and the present (Derrida, Foucault, Rancière)
