The BA major subject Educational Science provides thorough knowledge of education and socialisation, as well as training in social-scientific research methods.

Building on a broad disciplinary foundation, the degree programme enables individual specialisation. Students choose, according to their interests, from three professional fields:
• education in childhood,
• adult and continuing education,
• social work.

In this way, they qualify in a targeted manner for various pedagogical fields of practice. An integrated practise-oriented phase provides scope to apply theoretical knowledge and gain professional experience. The bachelor’s thesis must be written within the major subject. Working on a self-chosen topic, students bring together the competences they have acquired.

Students combine the major subject with a minor subject of their choice. In addition, the individual subsidiary subjects offer scope for further in-depth study in the chosen subjects or for insights into other disciplines.
