The findings and methods of informatics are an integral part of modern industrialised societies and have a significant influence on the forms of natural sciences and humanities that we are familiar with today. For this reason, the aim of the Minor Subject Informatics (30 CPs) is to give students from all fields the opportunity to familiarise themselves with basic concepts of informatics and to use them for their major subject.
Students acquire basic knowledge of programming, which includes functional and object-oriented programming, as well as knowledge of theoretical informatics and in the field of algorithms and data structures, and they learn to describe simple problems algorithmically. Building on this, they can expand this knowledge by choosing one of the following three profiles with the content listed below:

  • Software Engineering: Here, the basics of software engineering are taught and practically deepened through a group project.
  • Practical Informatics: Databases and Information Systems as well as Parallel & Distributed Computing
  • Computer Engineering: Computer Architecture and Operating Systems
