In der LehrerInnenausbildung spielen Methoden der sozialwissenschaftlichen Bildung eine zentrale Rolle. Im Seminar sollen der Methodenbegriff und die Bedeutung von Methodenkompetenz als Lernziel der Lehrerbildung kennen gelernt werden. Im Zentrum stehen dann Unterrichtsmethoden, die in der Anwendung auf gängige Inhaltsfelder des sozialwissenschaftlichen Unterrichts ausprobiert und evaluiert werden.
Anhand konkreter Unterrichtssituationen und Unterrichtsmaterialien soll der Umgang mit Methoden eingeübt und diese in ihrem theoretischen Selbstverständnis und Entstehungskontext erprobt werden. Dabei soll an neuere Erkenntnisse der empirischen Fachunterrichtsforschung angeschlossen werden.
