Anliegen dieser „Historischen Orientierung“ ist es, gemeinsam einen Überblick zu wichtigen Themen der europäischen Wirtschaftsgeschichte in der Frühen Neuzeit zu erarbeiten. In einem ersten Schritt wird zu fragen sein, was „Wirtschaft“ für die vorindustrielle Welt bedeutet und welche Konzepte in der Geschichtswissenschaft entwickelt wurden, um die vorindustrielle Wirtschaft zu untersuchen und zu interpretieren. Behandelt werden mit Bevölkerungsbewegung, Energie und Technik die Grundlagen wirtschaftlichen Handelns, um auf dieser Grundlage die Entwicklung in den verschiedenen Wirtschaftssektoren (Landwirtschaft, Gewerbe, Handel) zu betrachten. Schließlich wird die Rolle normativer Ordnungen für die ökonomische Entwicklung zu diskutieren sein.
Die „Historische Orientierung“ erarbeitet das nötige Orientierungswissen, auf dessen Grundlage im Seminar von Peter Kramper im gleichen Modul (220030) zentrale Themen forschungsorientiert vertieft werden.
