Man unterscheidet u.a. Alphabet-, Silben- und Morphemschriften. Das Lesen in Alphabetschriften ist am besten erforscht, und die meisten Modelle beziehen sich auf entsprechende Schriftsysteme, es gibt inzwischen aber auch Befunde z. B. zu Silben- und Morphemschriften. Wir werden das Lesen in verschiedenen Schriftsystemen betrachten und dabei etwas über das Zusammenspiel von Sprache, Schriftart und Verarbeitung erfahren.
Die Seminarliteratur wird überwiegend englischsprachig sein.
