A study group to read and discuss the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and explore the origins of the Cthulhu myth from Lord Dunsany to Stephen King. The first half of the seminar will be devoted to Lovecraft himself and an analysis of his poems and short stories to establish a baseline from which we can evaluate the plethora of cultural products that the myth has inspired.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
As this is a 'Studiengruppe' and involves only students, all participants will be actively involved at all levels, for example in choosing material, preparing short talks or leading discussions, presenting analyses of specific material, deciding how to structure the sessions, etc. Students can gain 3 credit points for "Internationalisation at Home" by participating.
