Der Begriff der Gesellschaft ist für die Sozialwissenschaften essenziell, gleichwohl sein konkreter Inhalt oft unklar ist. Im ersten Teil des Seminars werden wir uns zentralen Begriffen der Gesellschaftstheorie annähern. Es wird zu fragen sein, in welchem Verhältnis Individuum und Gesellschaft, Theorie und Empirie, Herrschaft und Befreiung stehen und welche Perspektiven sozialwissenschaftliche Theoriebildung auf diese eröffnen kann. Im zweiten Teil werden diese Erkenntnisse auf die Problemstellungen der Civic Education bezogen: In welchem Verhältnis zur Einrichtung von Gesellschaft stehen Ungleichheitsideologien wie Antisemitismus, Rassismus oder Misogynie?
