Das Seminar dient der Auseinandersetzung mit Theorien des Protests und des zivilen Ungehorsams. Klassische ideengeschichtliche Positionen zu Widerstandsrechten werden hierbei ebenso Gegenstand der Auseinandersetzung sein, wie gegenwärtige Theorien des Protests und des zivilen Ungehorsams. Vor dem Hintergrund eines in zahlreichen Ländern zu beobachtenden Erstarkens rechtspopulistischer Bewegungen, die sich explizit auf Protest- und Widerstandssemantiken beziehen, wird eine wichtige Frage darin bestehen, ob und inwiefern sich emanzipatorische und demokratische Protestformen von rechten politischen Bewegungen unterscheiden und abgrenzen lassen.
