The course aims to introduce the students about various approaches that are implicit in the phrase Gender and Development. The course equips the students with knowledge that facilitate them to critically examine how development processes influence the gender roles and relations. After completing the course the students would be able to understand the main perspective and debates in gender and development, role of socialization, allocation, and strategic selection processes that shape the gendered adult life course; main development theories and its effects on gender; transformation of gender relations; the relations between gender and empowerment slogan; and main index or assessment tools to measure development through gender lens.
