230599 EFL: Literature, Media and Intercultural Learning (Gym/Ges) (S) (WiSe 2008/2009)

In this course we will consider the interconnections between literature, media and intercultural learning in the EFL classroom. In the first three sessions we will examine the rationale for using literature and film in the foreign language classroom, develop criteria for the selection of suitable texts and explore ways of approaching and exploiting literature (and film) in lessons. We will focus on using poems (weeks 4-6) and children's video (weeks 7-8) plus a novel (weeks 9-11) and a film (weeks 12-14). The final session will be a review session.
