Thema des Seminars ist die Rolle, die Grammatiken bei der Beschreibung von Sprachen einerseits und der Beschreibung der menschlichen Sprachfähigkeit an sich spielen. Was ist die Natur sprachlicher Regelsysteme, lassen sie sich am Besten beschreiben? Welche sind die wichtigsten grammatiktheoretischen "Schulen"? Behandelt werden Beispiele aus dem Kernbereich der Grammatikschreibung, Syntax, Semantik, Morphologie und Phonologie.
