Die Veranstaltung führt in grundlegende Begriffe und Bereiche der mediensoziologischen Forschung ein. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei solche Ansätze, die den Wandel von Kultur und Gesellschaft mit alten und neuen Medien(technologien) in Verbindung bringen. Prominente Beispiele sind die Aktor-Network-Theorie (Latour) und die soziologische Systemtheorie (Luhmann). In dem Seminar werden zu diesen Ansätzen einschlägige Texte gelesen und diskutiert.
