220130 Historische Anthropologie: Theorien, Perspektiven und Zugänge (S) (WiSe 2026/2027)

„Die Vergangenheit ist ein fremdes Land“, schrieb der britische Schriftsteller L. P. Hartley 1953 und lieferte damit Generationen von Historiker:innen eine prägnante Formel, um vor vorschnellen, gegenwartsbezogenen Deutungen der Vergangenheit zu warnen. Historische Anthropolog:innen könnten diese Aussage jedoch umkehren und fragen: Was ist überhaupt fremd? Dieses Grundseminar geht der Frage nach, was es bedeutet, die Vergangenheit anthropologisch zu erforschen. Anhand zentraler theoretischer Texte und klassischer Fallstudien führt es in die wichtigsten Konzepte, Debatten und Zugänge der Historischen Anthropologie ein und erkundet die Erkenntniserträge, Potenziale und vermeintlichen Sackgassen eines transdisziplinären Dialogs.
